of Forced Smiles and Blending in

I can’t imagine I’m a corporate slave again. It’s been a long stressful week, of forced smiles and pleasantries in the workplace. I’m trying my best to blend with everybody else no matter how hard it is for me.  Since it’s a new company, my bosses are relying on my skills to organize the processes, reports and all that stuff in my department. I’m not trying to be career ambitious, but somehow I’m kind of hoping that in the end I would get the credit for all my contributions and effort. I don’t want to get used and abused this time….

Well, I guess my only choice right now is to get locked up in my cubicle until I’m ready to have my wings again and fly freely….

This is what I learned in the corporate life, someone who is just like everyone else, a normal person, is most likely the one being chosen to become a leader.  If a person wants to climb the corporate ladder and grow in career, he or she has to act just like everyone else. A person who wears black all the time, listens to dark music, and has different outlook in life has less chances of being promoted. I don’t know, maybe it is part of stereotyping…

One of my favorites quotes of all time –

“Stay mad, but behave like normal people. Run the risk of being different, but learn to do that without attracting attention.” - Paulo Coelho
